Eye Brow Shaping

Eye Brow Shaping: The perfect brows compliment the makeup. So it is important to create the ideal brows to complete the look. Here's how:

In eye brow shaping, use your white pencil (for dark to medium hair colour) or use a black pencil (if you are a blonde or have light coloured hair) and position it in a straight line from the side of your nose to the inner corner of your eyes and draw a line at the spot where it passes your brow.
Point A,this is where your brow shall begin. Then line your pencil from the side of your nose towards the outer corner of your eyes. Indicate where it passes the brow.
Point B,this is where your brow shall end.
Shift your pencil to the outer corner of your iris and draw a line where it passes the brow.
Point C,this is where your arch should begin
Connect the points up with your pencil and pluck away all the stray hair.

Type of Brow

In eye brow shaping, there are many different type of eye brow shapes for you to consider. Most importantly it must fit your face shape.
Generally, round eye brows add roundness and help to tone down overly sharp features. Angled brows work well with square jaws and can slim down a round face. Soft-angled brows are more feminine. The curved brows maximize your sex appeal and it works well on a oval or square face. Flat brows are used to shorten a long face

How do you determine your face shape?

1) Find a long ruler and measure the length of your face from your chin to the tip of your forehead.
2) Then you divide the result by 3.
3) Then measure the distance from the bottom of your nostril to the tip of your chin. If step 2 measurement is greater than step 3, your face might be either long or square. If step 2 measurement is less than step 3, your face could be round or a diamond shape. If step 2 and step 3 measures the same, then you may have a heart shaped or oval face shape.

Step-By Step Guide To Eye Brow Shaping

Eye Brow Shaping: Things that you will need
- Cleanser
- Toner
- Moisturiser
- White pencil
- Manicure scissor
- Eye brow pencil/eye shadow
Directions:
1. Cleanse and tone but do not moisturize your face.
2. Using the nose to brow measurement, determine the start of your brow, the arch and where your eye brows should end.
3. Make a mark at these peaks at your under-eye area and connect them with your white pencil and draw your desired eye brow shape.
4. Please do the same for the other brow before you begin your tweezing.
5. You can tweeze the hair only from your under-eye area and/or the area above the brow if you like.
6. You may now moisturize your face and wait for it to dry.
7. You may now fill in your brow with colour. For a dark hair person, your brow should be two tones lighter than your hair colour but for a light coloured hair person, your brow should be two tones darker in color. This is only a suggestion. Choose the colour that you feel that you will look best in. That is the most important factor in your decision.
8. You may use your brow pencil and fill in the colour by strokes, or shade your cotton tip with your brow pencil and smoothen it in your brow. You may also choose to use your eye shadow powder.

Eye Shape

Different eye shapes requires different makeup techniques. You can alter and enhance your eye shape with the careful play of eye shadow colours. Here are 5 types.

Prominent Eyes

If your eyelids and eyes are very distinct and tend to protrude from your face, you have prominent eyes or also known as goldfish eyes. The goal of makeup here is to visually reduce the prominence of the eyes and make the eyes recede gently into the cheeks.
I am going to create a light to dark effect with 3 shades of eye shadow colours, with the darkest shade applied closest to the lash line and fading as you go towards the brow.
P.S.: You must never highlight your eye lid or else you will further emphasize your prominent eyes. A darker contour shade used across your eyelid would help to minimise the prominence and make it appear to sink in the face.
Application:

1. Apply your highlight shade to your brow bone only.

2. Apply the base colour to your entire eye socket by starting at the base of your upper lash line and bringing the colour upwards and all the way to your brow bone

.

3. Apply the contour shade, starting from the base of your lash line and bring the colour across your lid and up into the crease and blend all the colours well. Then sweep the contour colour underneath your lower lash line as well.

Close-Set Eyes

The average space between a pair of eyes is approximately the width of 1 eye. If your eyes are spaced closer, you have close-set eyes. Your goal of makeup for this eye shape is to create the illusion that eyes are set farther apart.
P.S.: You should keep the inner corners and areas closest to your nose as light as possible to help visually 'push' your eyes furtherer apart and make sure that you concentrate the darker colours on the outer corners of this eye shape. You could also open up your eyes to create the illusion of larger eyes by applying beige or white eye lining pencil around the inner rim of your eyes.

Application

1. Apply the highlighting shade to your entire eye area and also to the inner corners of your upper and lower eyes rim.

2. Apply your base colour starting at the outer corner of the crease and bring the colour inwards to your entire eye socket, fading the shade gently.

3. Apply contour colour to the eye lid at the outer corner of your eyes and up into the crease line. Sweep it toward your lower lash line. P.S.: Contour the lower lash line mid way and apply your highlight shades to the inner corner of your eyes to make your eyes appear farther apart.

Wide Set Eyes

If the spacing between your eyes is wider than the width of 1 eye, your eyes will be considered wide set. For this eye shape, your goal is to create the illusion that they are closer together.
P.S.: In this case you have to put the dark contour colour on the inner corner of your eyes next to the bridge of your nose. You must begin all dark colour application slightly inward from the outer corners and blend your colours upwards and inwards to pull them closer together visually.

Application

1. Apply your highlight colour to your entire eye area.

2. Apply the base colour starting from the outer corner of the crease and bring the colour towards the inside corner of your eye. Be sure to apply a few more layers to the inner corners to deepen the colour.

3. Apply the contour colour starting slightly in from the outer corner of your eyes, brush it across the upper lash line and up into the crease of the eye, and sweep it underneath the lower lash line. Do not extend the colour beyond the outer edge of your eye.

Deep Set Eyes

Deep set eyes are eyes that are sunken into the socket. The browbone also extend farther out than any other eye shapes. The makeup goal of deep set eyes is to bring the eyes forward and make them more noticeable.
P.S.: You should highlight your eyes as much as possible to bring them out. Avoid dark colours but you can use bright colours. You do not need to highlight the browbone as it is already prominent. If you love eye liners, you must keep it very close to the lash line and also keep it thin.

Application

1. Apply the highlight to your entire eyes.

2. Apply your base colour, bring the colour up and above the crease and sweep it across the browbone to help the browbone to recede visually.

3. Apply contour colour to the outer corner of the upper lash line, then up onto the corner of the brow bone to help the area to recede. Sweep the contour colour underneath your lower eye rim for definition.

Droopy Eyes

Do you have eyes like Britney Spears? Eyes that are sloped downward at the outer corners? They are also referred to as "sad puppy dog eyes". Your goal is to make the outer corners appear upturn rather than down.
P.S.: You can achieve this by not extending colours to the outer corner of your eyes where it begins to turn down. By leaving it natural, you have created a visual lift to the eye. You can wear colour on the lower eye lash slightly in from the outer corner of your eyes. When you apply your mascara, concentrate on the middle of your lashes as defining the lashes on the outer corner of your eyes will only accentuate the droopiness. Furthermore, you must ensure that your eyebrows are curved gently outward and not downwards.
Application

1. Apply your highlight to your entire eyes.

2. Apply base colour starting slightly in from the outer corner and bring the colour across the crease and into the inner corners of the crease.

3. Apply contour colour to the outer corners of your eyes, starting slightly in from the outside corner and bring your colour up and into the crease. Sweep the colour along the lower lash for definition.

Hooded Eyes

Hooded eyes are also known as the sexy bedroom eyes because their lids appears to look slightly closed. With the right colour application techniques, the eye colours can help the hooded eyes appear more open by minimizing the eye lid. Our makeup goal for this eye shape is to make the fleshy lid area to recede and make the eyes appear more prominent than the eyelids.
P.S.: Do not be tempted to use dark colours over your entire eye area because it will make the eyes appear smaller. Do not overly accentuated the browbone with highlight as it can make your eyelids appear thicker.

Application

1. Apply highlight colour to your entire eye area.

2. Apply contour colour starting at the base of your upper lash line and bring the colour up and over your entire eye socket. This will help your eye socket to recede visually.

3. Apply contour colour starting at the base of the lash line and bring the colours up and over the entired eye socket. For this type of eye shape, you must bring the contour colour in a little farther and up a little higher than on other eye shapes. This will help the hooded area to recede. And sweep the contour colour underneath your lower lashline for definition. Hooded eyes looks fabulous with a well defined upper and lower lash line.

Applying Eye Makeup

Applying Eye Makeup is more delicate than the rest of the face because the eyes are more sensitive. This page will give you useful eye make up tips.

Applying Eye Makeup: How to Apply Eye Shadow

Applying Eye Shadow: Things that you will need
- Liquid foundation
- Eye shadow brush
- Highlighter
- Base
- Medium eye shadow colour
- Dark eye shadow colour

1. You need to apply the base using your liquid foundation as this will ensure a smooth canvas for your eye shadow to glide on smoothly and allows the true colour of your eye shadow to shine.
2. Contour the darkest shade of eye shadow at the outer corner lash line to the middle of your eye socket line.
3. Apply the medium shade of eye shadow to your entire socket.
4. Blend step 2 and 3 nicely.
5. Apply the highlighter above your socket line just below the eye brow.

Applying Eye Makeup: How to Put on Fake Eye Lashes?

1. Apply translucence powder and your eye shadow before you begin applying as oiliness would make you glue harder to adhere to your lid.
2. Trim your fake eye lash to fit your eyes if it is too long
3. Squeeze some glue to the back of your hand and dab your eye lash edges into the glue.
4. Press your fake eye lash as close to your lash line as possible.
5. Hold the fake eye lash until it is securely in place.
6. Wait for your glue to dry.
7. If there is a gap between your real eye lashes and the fake eye lashes, use your eye shadow or black eye liner to hide it.
8. Apply your mascara generously in an upward motion.
9. You may remove your fake eye lashes with the help of a damp cloth at the end of the day. But if you are having problems, please avoid the temptations to pull as you may remove your real eye lashes along with the fake ones. Apply some Vaseline petroleum jelly and wait for a few second before removal again.

Mime Makeup of Asian Celebrities

Mime makeup of Asian celebrities: Asian makeup style has evolved through the years. Some Asian girls like in Japan where Japanese fashion trend setters have largely adopted Western makeup style but other Asians have gone the other direction to preserve their cultural beauty.

Regardless, when you meet someone for the first time, what truly captivates you are the eyes. Asian eyes have different eye shape to non-Asians and thus, you need to apply makeup to suit.
Most makeup artists for Asian stars know this well and to mime makeup like them, it is necessary to learn the art of makeup for our individual unique Eye shape.

In this article, we will focus on the oriental and Asian eye makeup to mime makeup of Asian celebrities. For starter, an eyelash curler could do magic to impact your overall makeup.
It is such an important step that most of us overlook. Curling your eye lashes with your eyelash curler truly help to open up yours eyes and reduces the chance of your mascara from smudging.

Hollywood Celebrity - Zhang Ziyi

The most vital tool to the modern day oriental eye makeup is the black mascara and a charcoal black eye liner. Asian women usually have almond shaped eyes. The mascara if liberally applied to the upper and the lower lashes helps to enhance the beauty of this eye shape. Do apply generously to your outer lashes as well to make them appear even more outstanding.
These simple steps exude a look of sophiscation with a tinge of modern beauty. I personally prefer to use liquid eyeliner instead of the regular pencil eye liner. Liquid eye liner gives a more dramatic and bold look.
The liquid eye liner is applied to your upper eye lid and use a brown eye liner to line your lower eye lid with the line slightly turned out and up at the outer corner and slightly downwards at the inner corner to enhance your beautiful almond eyes.

For large eyes, dark eyeliners would draw out the beauty of the oriental eyes but the brown or gray eye liner works best for other eyes as dark color tend to make normal eyes smaller.
To add definition to Asian eyes, you could add a medium tone across the lid and brow bone.

Dusting under the brow with a lighter tone will further highlight the eyes. Eyebrow colour should always be darker than the lid colour and it shouldn't be a different colour altogether but rather, just a slightly different shade. For most oriental girls, a yellow based foundation will be a good starting point in getting the overall make up right.

Going for a darker or too light a foundation will create a mask like effect. In choosing a foundation, it is important that you use the face to test for colour because skin texture on your hand and face could be different to that of your face.
Handy hint: Apply make up after you are already dressed or otherwise you run the risk of smudging some of your handy work.
